Web services

A web service allows communication between two computer systems which can be anywhere in the world. A web service uses secure communication over the Internet (similar to the technology used for online banking) to send messages between systems.

How does Assettagz use web services?

The Assettagz Connector uses secure Internet protocols (https) to transfer XML messages between Assettagz and other applications. The message transfer can be initiated by the Connector (which can ask for new messages periodically) or by the applications themselves. These messages give real-time information about the status of assets to critical ERP business applications (for example SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, COINS) or other bespoke applications. This significantly improves efficiency and ensures clear and accurate communication therefore eliminating unnecessary manual costs.
