Ready Power trials 4hSolutions’ new GPS tracking device
02/04/09
Leading rail plant hire company, Ready Power, are trialling 4hSolutions’ new GPS tracking device. Developed and manufactured in the UK, the device has three important features to help solve specific rail plant tracking problems:
The new unit:
- is significantly smaller than most devices on the market and therefore is more easily concealed, further preventing tamper and theft;
- reports on voltage levels remaining in power sources such as rail equipment, trailers and other mobile machinery, providing valuable usability information;
- incorporates a Radio Frequency ID (RFID) tag allowing users to manage maintenance and service history with real proof of attendance, in addition to the exact GPS location. The RFID tag must be scanned from a distance of 10-15cm, thereby ensuring a maintenance engineer or inspector was actually there.
Simon Heath, Product Director at 4hSolutions adds “In a market saturated with many GPS providers, it was important for us to differentiate our product offering and develop a solution that solves real and specific issues within the Rail industry. Ready Power recognises these benefits and is one of the first organisations to pilot our new unit.”
