Assettagz wins prestigious Best Practice in Management Award for RFID in construction project

15/03/10

4hSolutions is delighted to announce that it has won the much coveted Plant Services Best Practice in Management Award for its part in an integrated solution with COINS for UK construction services company, Byrne Group.

The Plant Services Best Practice in Management Award recognizes the implementation of innovative maintenance or asset management practices and initiatives to support safety, improve efficiency and facilitate asset management.

The Byrne Group project involved an integrated solution combining their core back-office COINS Plant Manager module to automate the Issue and Return of plant, tools, stock and equipment, with Assettagz RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to manage, track, maintain and inspect these assets. Byrne Group experienced significant benefits, including an 87% reduction in maintenance job cards, and theft was reduced by an estimated 50%. Their investment in this project paid for itself within one year.

Judges gave praise for "overcoming significant challenges by implementing RFID technology on a wide variety of items, many of which are mobile and over a large geographical area, challenging a long history of doing things the old-fashioned [pen and paper] way."

Hiten Kantelia, Managing Director at 4hSolutions, said of the accolade. “This award recognizes the importance of asset management practices and initiatives in delivering efficiency, profitability and cost through asset utilisation which is why we are so delighted to have won it."

The award result was announced in the March 2010 issue of Plant Services Magazine. You can read the article here.
