Assettagz to be used on UK's tallest building
17/12/09
4hSolutions customer, Byrne Bros, recently won the contract to carry out the concrete sub structure and superstructure works at The Shard, London Bridge. At 310m high, The Shard will become the tallest building in the UK when it is completed in 2011.
Byrne Bros use Assettagz mobile asset management technology and RFID tagging for the management and control of plant equipment, tools and consumable stock on their construction sites as Paul Brooks, Foreman at the Bryne Bros logistics centre in Mitcham, explains:
“We use ID cards to assign equipment in and out to staff which, in addition to reducing the number of lost or stolen assets, ensures that only those who are trained and authorised can take it. From a Health and Safety perspective, we use Assettagz to track maintenance schedules and carry out inspections of our equipment in the field, ensuring that only tested and certified equipment is hired out.”
Gareth John, Mitcham logistics centre General Manager, said of The Shard project: “Our logistics centre at Mitcham serves as a hub to provide equipment and materials safely and efficiently to our construction sites. Assettagz has been selected to help us manage the distribution and operation of our plant and equipment more effectively.”
